Over the past 20 years, Stadtwerke Ingolstadt has developed from a traditional energy supplier into an innovative energy service provider and offers a comprehensive range of services. The company stands for innovation, regionality and sustainability. Instead of distant headquarters, Stadtwerke Ingolstadt looks after its customers directly according to the principle ‘Better close by’.
Stadtwerke Energie GmbH Ingolstadt has been operating a biogas plant in Bergheim-Unterstall since 2011. It started with a 250 kW MAN engine and replaced this with a 637 kW Jenbacher engine in 2014. Another final storage facility was also built accordingly.
Around 20 farmers from the surrounding area supply maize, grass, silage and cattle manure. Silphia is used as bee pasture in the water protection area and contributes significantly to the acceptance of the biogas plant. The electricity generated is fed into the regional distribution network of the grid operator Bayernwerk, while the heat generated is largely used at the biogas plant itself, for heating the fermenters or for a fermentation residue drying plant. In addition to generating electricity, the neighbouring primary school in the village is also supplied with heat. There is also a photovoltaic system on the site.
A Jenbacher 312 engine with an output of 637 kW has been in operation since 2014. The spark plugs for this engine also come from Emission Partner. The company is very pleased with a service life of over 14,000 hours. ‘We also very much appreciate the organisation and procedure of the annual exhaust gas measurement and the supply of a high-quality catalytic converter at standard market prices,’ says Mr Braun with satisfaction.
