With combined heat and power plants powered by biomethane, Avacon Natur generates almost CO2-neutral electricity and heat and at the same time makes very efficient use of the resources of the agricultural grid area.

Avacon Natur GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Avacon AG and is part of the E.ON Group. As a regional energy service provider, Avacon Natur stands for energy solutions in harmony with the environment. To this end, decentralized solutions are being developed to generate climate-neutral electricity and environmentally friendly heat from renewable energy sources.

“In addition to highly efficient combined heat and power generation, we are increasingly focusing on renewable energies,” explains Mr. von Hörsten. In addition to photovoltaics and wind power, Avacon Natur is focusing in particular on the promising energy source bio natural gas. Bio natural gas is obtained from biomass and can be easily stored and converted into almost CO2-neutral electricity and heat. The available resources can be used efficiently, particularly in Avacon Natur’s agricultural grid area. Over 500 GWh of climate-friendly energy is generated in cooperation with municipal partners. “Through environmentally friendly energy generation, Avacon Natur achieves savings of around 40,000 tons of CO2,” says Mr. von Hörsten, explaining the successful energy partnerships.

When using combined heat and power generation, Avacon Natur tries to make optimum use of resources, so that regional partnerships are also used for the exhaust gas aftertreatment of the combined heat and power plants. “With the catalytic converters from Emission Partner, we reliably comply with the reduced limit values for our CHP units,” says Mr. von Hörsten, explaining the successful collaboration with Emission Partner.
