DREWAG – Stadtwerke Dresden GmbH supplies around 300,000 customers with electricity, gas, district heating and drinking water. With total sales of 14,848 gigawatt hours and water sales of 42.7 million cubic metres*, DREWAG is one of the most important municipal utilities in eastern Germany. ‘We live and work in an energy-conscious way and support both private households and companies in increasing their energy efficiency. Innovative and environmentally friendly energy concepts have been a useful addition to our customers‘ energy supply in recent years,’ explains Thomas Hartert.

In addition to two large biogas plants, the energy supplier also relies on photovoltaics, hydropower and wind power. ‘Renewable energies are an important building block for the future. At our Dresden-Reick combined heat and power plant, we are combining both fossil and renewable energy generation plants with the storage of electricity and heat at a single location for the first time. In addition, Saxony’s first commercial battery storage system is being operated at this site, which is being tested as a primary control system for the public power grid,’ says Mr Hartert, explaining the development.

The energy supplier’s district heating supply is also currently being significantly expanded. In addition to energy-saving measures, the district heating supply can make a significant contribution to reducing primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

DREWAG relies on catalytic converters from Emission Partner for the exhaust gas aftertreatment of its biogas and natural gas cogeneration plants. The energy supplier relies on various engine manufacturers such as MTU, Jenbacher, MAN and others for its combined heat and power plants.

‘We bought our first catalytic converters four years ago and have always been very satisfied with the product quality and catalytic converter performance. The individual customer support from the responsible application engineer is excellent and we feel that we are in good hands with Emission Partner,’ says Thomas Hartert, summarising the cooperation with Emission Partner.
