MDE Service GmbH - MTU/MDE

Managing Director Bernd Bestle and his engine specialists from the Augsburg region pass on their many years of experience to biogas plant operators.

Founded in October 2017, MDE Service GmbH from the Augsburg area specialises in the maintenance and operation of MTU/MDE and MAN combined heat and power plants in the power range up to 500 kilowatts electric. ‘All of our employees come from the industry and have many years of experience and in-depth expertise. We offer a maintenance and repair service throughout Germany, including the replacement of engines and modernisation of existing engines,’ says Managing Director Bernd Bestle, describing his company.

‘The new formaldehyde limit value of 20 mg/Nm³ was announced in autumn 2017 at the same time as the company was founded. We were looking for a reliable partner who could react flexibly to the new emission requirements and had many years of experience in exhaust gas aftertreatment for engines,’ says Bestle, explaining the start of the collaboration with Emission Partner. Together, technical solutions were developed to ensure compliance with the new limits and then produced at short notice. ‘In the 6- and 12-cylinder MTU engines, the catalytic converters are flanged into the front head of the heat exchanger and therefore offer optimum sealing without exhaust slip. For engines without heat exchangers, exchange systems are installed that make it easier to clean the catalytic converters and replace them in the future. Furthermore, a complex and cost-intensive conversion of the exhaust systems can be dispensed with,’ adds Mr Bestle.

‘We are very satisfied with the cooperation so far, especially with the speed and flexibility in the delivery of standard and special catalytic converters. All the catalytic converters supplied have met the new requirements and our customers can continue to receive the emission reduction bonus with confidence,’ summarises Managing Director Bernd Bestle.
