In the course of stricter exhaust gas limits from the 44th BImSchV<\/a> in the area of nitrogen oxides, complete SCR systems are used in addition to oxidation catalytic converters to convert carbon compounds. These serve to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides. Typical lean-burn engines are capable of producing less than 500mg\/Nm\u00b3 Nox (natural gas often 250mg\/Nm\u00b3) within the engine. Since 01.01.2023, a limit value of 0.1g\/Nm\u00b3 has successively applied to more and more engines. An SCR system is required to achieve this limit value.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

As the required catalytic converter volume is significantly higher than that of an oxidation catalytic converter, it is usually necessary to convert the entire exhaust gas system between the CHP unit and the heat exchanger. In addition to the large-volume SCR catalytic converters, an Ad-Blue nozzle with a subsequent mixing section and sufficient dwell time until it reaches the catalytic converters is required. An SCR control system including dosing unit then follows off the exhaust line. This monitors the exhaust gas values and doses the appropriate amount of Ad-Blue into the exhaust tract. The SCR system is rounded off by an AdBlue storage tank, matched to the engine size and the expected Ad-Blue consumption.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our SCR control unit measures the Nox emissions both before and after the catalytic converter and calculates a forecast for the amount of AdBlue required. The dosed urea solution is then injected through the nozzle into the exhaust tract in a finely distributed manner. The urea solution then evaporates completely and the urea it contains converts to ammonia. When the exhaust gas with the ammonia it contains hits the SCR catalytic converters, nitrogen oxide compounds (NOx, mainly NO and NO2) are converted to nitrogen and water with the help of a vanadium-containing coating. Two Nox sensors are then used to finely regulate the Nox to the set target value.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Depending on the space available on site, we offer different solutions to optimally retrofit any exhaust system. In addition to typical designs, we also offer compact systems so that a fully-fledged SCR system can be integrated even in confined installation spaces. This enables us to design, individually construct and supply an SCR system for every CHP plant, regardless of the engine. Of course, we have already established standards for various systems in order to be able to deliver quickly and keep costs low.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

If a catalytic converter housing is already available, Emission Partner catalytic converters and the SCR control unit can be easily retrofitted. Depending on the engine type, we offer metal or fully extruded catalytic converters. Our catalytic converters are produced at our factory in Germany and can be built compactly and coated effectively to meet requirements.
