Easy retrofit
Suitable for all engine types and easy to retrofit
There are several thousand natural gas-fired CHP plants in Germany. In this so-called combined heat and power (CHP) system, natural gas is burned in a combustion engine and converted into electricity and heat. In the course of the energy transition, CHP plants are used by energy suppliers and municipal utilities for flexible and decentralized energy generation. To comply with legal requirements, these CHP units require exhaust gas aftertreatment.
Emission Partner offers a suitable catalyst solution for all natural gas-powered CHP units. Our customers include well-known energy suppliers and municipal utilities that rely on the know-how of Emission Partner engineers.
For natural gas engines, the formaldehyde limit value was reduced from 60 mg/Nm³ to 30 mg/Nm³ for existing plants with the enforcement recommendation Formaldehyde as of February 2018. Emission measurement must now be performed annually rather than triennially. Many plants that previously fell below the limit value entirely without exhaust gas aftertreatment must now retrofit catalytic converters for the first time.

The 44th Ordinance of the Federal Immission Control (BImSchV) replaces the previously valid TA Luft, which regulated the emissions of combustion engines since 2002. All plants requiring a permit smaller than 1 MW and all plants with more than 1 MW rated thermal input are affected.
The regulations have been further specified by the Federal/State Working Group for Immission Control (LAI) on the basis of VDMA Standard Sheet 6299 and extended to all plants that receive the emission reduction bonus.
With the passing of the 44th BImSchV, in June 2019, Emission Partner has launched the EMI-LOG emission monitoring system to offer you as an operator a simple, stable and functioning solution.
EMI-LOG is an engine manufacturer independent and self-sufficient solution for all engine types, and in addition to continuous compliance with emission limits, you can also meet the requirement of effective operation of your catalyst.
The data to prove the effective operation of the exhaust aftertreatment system is stored DSGVO compliant, both locally and accessible to you in a cloud. With the conclusion of a service contract, you receive automated monthly/annual reports as proof for your authority.
COMPACT SCR-SYSTEM BEFORE AWT
REFLECTIVE SILENCERS WITH CYLINDRICAL CATALYSTS
This very compact solution, which we developed in cooperation with the Adam company, integrates the SCR catalyst into the reflective silencer and can thus be projected without requiring additional space. The reflective part of the silencer – flow-optimized by Emission Partner Know How – ensures optimal mixing of flue gas and aqueous urea solution.
Jenbacher engines, especially the Jenbacher 312, are very popular with German biogas farmers due to their reliability. These engines are also characterized by relatively high formaldehyde emissions, which pose a particular challenge to the catalysts. Emission Partner has developed its own catalyst line here, depending on the installation location, which reliably complies with the strict German formaldehyde requirement over several successive measurements.
Due to the many CHP manufacturers (SEVA, Pro2, ETW, Dreyer and Bosse) who have installed MWM engines for biogas operation, there is no standard catalyst for these engines (mostly TCG 2016 V12/V16). Because conversion requirements have increased, it is recommended to install a catalyst chamber with two thin catalyst discs that can be cleaned and changed individually as needed.
