Introduction and requirements
of the 44th Federal Immission Control Ordinance
With the introduction of the 44th BlmSchV, Directive (EU) 2015/2193 was transposed into national law. Background, limit values and technical solutions for the implementation of the 44th BlmSchV have already been described in detail in the report “44th BlmSchV Requirements and Solutions” by the same author.
The VDMA (German Engineering Federation) recommends in publication 6299 “Methods for monitoring emissions from combustion engine systems” of September 2019 that catalytic converters be sealed in order to comply with the correct installation of the catalytic converter, according to the 44th BlmSchV. This wire seal must not be able to be opened non-destructively and it must be provided with a consecutive engraved number, which must be documented in the operating log.
