DREWAG – Stadtwerke Dresden GmbH supplies around 300,000 customers with electricity, gas, district heating and drinking water. With total sales of 14,848 gigawatt hours and water sales of 42.7 million cubic meters*, DREWAG is one of the most important municipal utilities in Eastern Germany. “We live and work energy-consciously and support private households as well as companies in increasing their energy efficiency. In recent years, innovative and environmentally friendly energy concepts have meaningfully supplemented the energy supply of our customers,” explains Thomas Hartert.
In addition to two large-scale biogas plants, the energy provider also relies on photovoltaics, hydropower and wind power. “Renewable energies are an important building block for the future. In our Dresden-Reick combined heat and power plant, we are combining both fossil and renewable energy generation plants at one location for the first time with the storage of electricity and warmth. In addition, at this location in Saxony the first commercial battery storage system is tested, serving as primary control system for the public power grid” says Mr. Hartert explaining the development.
The energy supplier’s district heating supply is also being currently significantly expanded. In addition to the energy-saving measures, the district heating supply can make a significant contribution to reducing primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
DREWAG relies on catalysts from Emission Partner for the exhaust gas aftertreatment of its biogas and natural gas cogeneration plants. The energy provider relies on a wide range of engine manufacturers such as MTU, Jenbacher, MAN and others for its cogeneration plant.
We bought the first catalysts four years ago, and we have always been very satisfied with the product quality and catalyst performance. The individual customer service provided by the responsible application engineer is excellent and we feel we are in good hands with Emission Partner”, Thomas Hartert sums up the cooperation with Emission Partner.
